Mary had a little lamb (instrumental)

Gabrielle has been taking music lessons since the fall and recently had a Christmas concert in a church, where else. The programme she's in is called Music for Young Children, which is a play-based approach to music learning. I like it because I don't have to fight for her to practice every night. She likes it because she gets to play.

Although it is a keyboard-centred class, for the concert they did a little rhythm ensemble, reading music notation to keep the beat. They use hops, turtles, ti-tis and a sleepy panda to mark the time.

The newlyweds visit

OK, so they're not exactly married, but my father and Marie have recently shacked up together, renovating a condo in preparation, and if they can survive that (they did), they can survive anything.

They came to visit the kids in the late fall, divesting some devils and a super-sweet Gateau Chomeur, or at least I think that's what it's called. In any event, it was 90% sugar, and Isaac couldn't have been happier about it.

My dad never smiles in pictures. Unless you take a whole bunch, which I did, because I knew he'd smile eventually...
